As the curtain starts to fall on the 2023/24 season, ROHM treated audiences to unforgettable season highlights, including the mesmerizing Homage to Maria Callas on May 15th and the captivating production of La Bohème in co-production with Monte Carlo Opera on May 16th and 18th.

In a truly iconic tribute to the legendary soprano Maria Callas, the Homage to Maria Callas concert featured acclaimed opera singers Sonya Yoncheva and Leo Nucci, under the baton of conductor Leonardo Sini, leading the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana. Attendees were spellbound by this concert, expressing gratitude for the privilege of witnessing world-leading performers on the esteemed ROHM stage. In a heartfelt video message, soprano Sonya Yoncheva expressed her joy in coming to Oman for the first time in her illustrious career, emphasizing the honour of paying tribute to the incomparable Maria Callas.

Following this resplendent tribute, audiences were treated to Giacomo Puccini’s timeless masterpiece, La Bohème. Directed by Jean-Louis Grinda, Director of the Monte Carlo Opera, and conducted by Leonardo Sini, with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and the Symphonic Choir of Parma and Emilia Romagna, this poignant opera unfolded the enchanting love story set in Paris’s Latin quarter. Commenting on this co-production, Jean-Louis Grinda stated: “Collaborating once again with the Royal Opera House Muscat is a privilege and a great joy. The production of La Bohème was created in Oman with great success in October 2019 and I am very happy to revisit it with, as always in Muscat, a prestigious cast.” Starring Mariangela Sicilia as Mimì, Liparit Avetisyan as Rodolfo, Hasmik Torosyan as Musetta, Semen Antakov as Marcelo, Daniele Terenzi as Schaunard, Matteo Peirone as Benoît and Riccardo Zanellato as Colline, this co-production between ROHM and the Monte Carlo Opera enchanted audiences once again. The return of the immensely talented composer Leonardo Sini, conducting the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, added an extra layer of brilliance to the performance.

The final show of the season will welcome the Cairo Opera for a unique two-night representation of Scheherazade on May 23rd and 24th at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts. Directed by Walid Aouni, this dazzling theatrical dance promises a fresh interpretation of the timeless tale from the Arabian Nights.
