Maserati combines the performance capabilities of a coupé with the luxury styling of an executive sedan in the Ghibli. For model year 2019, the luxe sedan features a number of impressive features that include new alloy wheels, colours and redesigned gearshift, to name a few…

Maserati took its racing DNA to the streets in a sophisticated format with the launch of the Ghibli (M157) back in 2013. Over the years, the Ghibli has been a steadfast favourite of brand aficionados and auto lovers. In 2019, Maserati has focused on new colours and alloy wheels, full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather with new veneers and a redesigned gearshift lever provide the Ghibli a touch of understated refinement for model year 2019.

The Ghibli’s distinct Maserati DNA – combining the performance capabilities of a coupé with the luxurious style of an executive sedan – enhances the driving experience every day, whatever the distance.

Design & Styling

The exterior styling of the Ghibli underlines the clear distinction between baseline, GranLusso and GranSport trims, while enhancing the visual identity and aerodynamic efficiency of the Maserati sports sedan.

The comfortable cabin of the Ghibli blends a state-of-the art infotainment system with tangibly superior materials – like the new Pieno Fiore natural leather in option – and can be further upgraded in the GranLusso and GranSport trims.

Class-leading 3.0-litre V6 engines

A Maserati 3.0-litre Twin Turbo V6 petrol engine, featuring the latest Gasoline Direct Injection technology, forms the beating heart of the Ghibli sports sedan.

The 2,979 cc V6 petrol engine – available in two power specifications with 350hp and 430hp – is designed by Maserati Powertrain in collaboration with Ferrari and is manufactured by Ferrari in Maranello. This latest-generation engine is powerful, exciting to drive and eco-friendly, thanks to Gasoline Direct Injection technology, two low-inertia parallel turbochargers, four continuous camshaft phasers as well as Auto Start-Stop system. For MY19, the Maserati petrol engines are Euro6c-compliant.

Ghibli S and S Q4 – 430hp Twin Turbo V6

The range-topping Ghibli S and S Q4 versions deliver 430hp and 580 Nm peak torque. The maximum engine speed is 6,500 rpm, yet it delivers its peak torque between 2,250 rpm and 4,000 rpm. The class-leading power output gives the Maserati sports sedan a top speed of 286 km/h and remarkable acceleration: Ghibli S makes it to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and the Ghibli S Q4, with the intelligent Q4 All-Wheel Drive system, in just 4.7 seconds.  The remarkably high-power output does not affect the fuel consumption of the top Ghibli versions. The combined consumption of the MY19 Ghibli S Q4 is 11.9 litres/100 km, while combined CO2 emissions are 275 g/km.

Ghibli – 350hp Twin Turbo V6

The turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine available on the Ghibli delivers 350hp at 5,000 rpm and 500 Nm torque from 1,750-4,500 rpm in over-boost mode. Combined fuel consumption is 11.0 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions 255 g/km. The 350hp Ghibli is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 267 km/h.

Comprehensive safety

Maserati made safety a top priority when designing the Ghibli. So not only does it provide mile after mile of high-powered luxury, it also has the full 5-star EURO NCAP safety rating. The Ghibli is equipped with an impressively comprehensive range of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems. It means even greater peace of mind, whether the driver is on an exclusive grand tour or a dash through the city.

ZF eight-speed automatic transmission

The sophisticated ZF eight-speed automatic transmission in the Maserati Ghibli puts a vast world of possibilities in the palm of your hand – and, if tempted, your fingertips. The advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, putting the power of the Ghibli engines under your complete control.

Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system

The Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system has been conceived to convey a typical Maserati rear-wheel driving experience. In normal driving conditions it provides 100% of the engine torque to the rear wheels; this also optimises fuel consumption and emissions. The Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system keeps the performance and comfort of your Maserati Ghibli at their engaging, inspirational best – even when the weather and road conditions are far from ideal.

Infotainment and connectivity

The interior of the Ghibli is built around a driver interface that is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. The instrument cluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometer and speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display.

The 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit takes pride of place at the centre of the Ghibli dashboard. With very few buttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering it is intuitive and easy. In addition, MTC+ controls the front seat heating, as well as the ventilation, steering wheel heating and the operation of the rear sunblind, where fitted. The screen also displays the rear view, with guidelines, for the reversing camera.

The state-of-the-art system features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant, allowing them to carry out tasks using voice command. Through naturally spoken language, it is possible to make a call or access music, messages, reminders, emails, websites and much more. The infotainment system is also completed by Aux-in, USB sockets and the SD card reader.

Chassis

The Ghibli chassis has been precisely designed to meet the demands of dynamic performance and long-distance comfort from Maserati drivers. Based around a rigid and extremely secure steel cell, the chassis uses an array of different steel and aluminium alloys, each given a precise task to maximise strength, minimise weight and retain the sports sedan’s ideal weight distribution, ranging from 50:50 for the Ghibli and Ghibli S to 51:49 front/rear for the Ghibli S Q4 versions.

Suspensions and Brakes

Lightweight construction, intelligent systems and trusted principles are key to the inimitable pleasures of grand touring in the Maserati Ghibli. With the Ghibli range, this is demonstrated by a rigid and extremely secure steel cell using an array of steel and aluminium alloys. Together, the configuration maximises strength, minimises weight and retains the sports sedan’s perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

The Ghibli GranSport features the Skyhook suspension as standard, with shock absorbers delivering continuous damping variation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movement of each wheel and the car’s body to determine the road conditions and how the car is being driven. It then instantly adjusts the settings of each damper accordingly.

All versions of the Maserati Ghibli feature powerful Brembo brakes carefully matched to engine performance. The discs are dual-cast, combining the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass and, therefore, increase handling prowess.
