Radical design and high-spec materials make up the F1® Speed by Montegrappa – a pen that promises an adrenaline rush for racing and writing aficionados alike.

The Montegrappa F1® Speed follows the brand’s successful collaboration last year that saw the launch of the commemorative F1® Seventy. An ode to the next-generation 2022 F1 car, the pen emulates the free-thinking approach of modern Formula 1® designers and is a masterpiece in design and ergonomics.

A radical carbon-fibre silhouette encases its core innovative splayed barrel that offers better grip and control. Aerodynamic cues abound, in nod to its car muse, and form integral part of what makes this writing instrument so epic.

Take for example, the F1® Speed’s graduated ‘Monza’ step, made from high-grade brass and PVD-coated with resilient, black ruthenium, a component designed to offer fluid movement between the pen’s barrel and grip sections.

You can also admire the pocket-clip inspired by the next-generation Formula 1 car’s nose cone designs, and a finial modelled on slick racing tyres and fitted to a miniature, sterling silver hub. Additional cosmetic touches include high-gloss body lacquering, high-visibility enamel and resin accents, and a scorched, stainless-steel exhaust that doubles as a barrel end.

The notion of speed has even inspired the pen’s limited production run of 372 pieces per mode/colour reference, with 372 a nod to the highest velocity ever recorded in a world championship F1 race – 372.6 km/h (231.5 mph) by McLaren’s Juan Pablo Montoya in the 2005 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
