To celebrate the release of ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ and as an ode to the nostalgia-inducing favourite ‘Looney Toones’, Kross Studio has come up with a 10-piece collector’s set (consisting of a timepiece and a special presentation box) that is a nod to the Swiss brand’s haute horology laurels and a covetable combination of technology, with design, and style.
The limited-edition timepiece, priced at $100,000, is housed in a 45mm titanium case with a sapphire crystal dome that is a mini shrine to Space Jam icons and some complicated mechanics that comprise 281 hand-made components. The movement, made in-house, is a 3Hz manually wound KS 7000 calibre that comes with a five-day power reserve and is visible from the back of the watch.
At the centre court of this magnificent watch is the skeletonised tourbillon cage evocative of a basketball, showing off the regulator under it. The hands are attached to a 360-degree rotating display mechanism, while the blue fixed hour wheel comes with the ‘dream team’ of the full cast of ‘Looney Tunes’, Bugs Bunny et al. A push-button and the D-ring crown can be used for winding the watch and setting time. Interchangeable strap options include a deep blue calfskin leather and a playful orange rubber that offers that ‘basketball’ feel.
Not Just a Watch Box: The presentation box is not your average watch box. It is a basketball sculpture that functions as an artistic space to display your timepiece. Carved out from aluminium and oak wood, the sculpture can be unlocked to reveal a special platform, peppered with ‘Looney Toones’ squad.
