To commemorate the delivery of its 8,000th SR Series aircraft due later this year, aviation superpower Cirrus Aircraft has unveiled a limited-edition design dubbed the 8000 Limited Edition SR Series, taking personal aviation to new, luxurious heights.
The company itself said that the design has been inspired by its history in designing and building aircraft that are used by enthusiasts to explore the world through personal aviation, brining ‘bold colours and unapologetic accents’ on the exterior and interior of the aircraft.
“The SR Series has an incredible history of innovation, evolution and invention,” said Zean Nielsen, CEO at Cirrus Aircraft. “Our team took that as inspiration to create a Limited Edition that breaks out of the boundaries of traditional aircraft design to reflect the energy and excitement of where we are going next.”
The result is striking. The exterior, impossible to miss. The design is accentuated by an industry-first Volt wing paint scheme which is carried through into the interior with stitching on the seats, door embroidery, and luxury perforated leather on the seats and throttle.
Just eight 8000 Limited Edition SR Series aircraft – imagined and designed by Cirrus Aircraft’s in-house personalisation team Xi Design Studio – will be made available and delivered along with a curated series of gifts and events for the lucky new owners.
Charting back to the beginning of Cirrus Aircraft’s high-performance SR Series – the SR20, delivered in 1999 – and the design has been the world’s best-selling single-engine piston aircraft for 18 years in a row, with a portfolio that now includes the SR22 and the turbocharged SR22T. The aircraft has transformed general aviation with intuitive avionics, game-changing performance and advanced safety systems, clocking up more than 11 million flight hours in more than 60 countries around the world.
The sixth generation SR Series – G6 SR Series – once more affirmed the company’s position as an industry leader and raised the benchmark for high performance, single-engine aircraft. The 2017 G6 SR Series launched the high-speed Cirrus Perspective+TM by Garmin® flight deck, Cirrus SpectraTM wingtip lighting, premium cockpit connectivity solutions and more.
In the following years, the G6 SR Series was further enhanced with flight deck upgrades and new features in connectivity, including the Cirrus Aircraft mobile app powered by Cirrus IQ™ for access to real-time aircraft data from virtually anywhere in the world, flight data streaming and the ability to text or call contacts on the ground with FlightStream 510.
In many respects, the 8000 Limited Edition SR Series is the culmination of the decades of experience that Cirrus Aircraft has in the sector, leveraging technological and design innovation to produce a platform that will once again set the standard for exclusive personal aviation for years to come.
